Meghan showed the example of epic empathy and patient-centric righteous behavior.
It was the third night in a row that Meghan was continuously caring for a dying patient in an extremely busy PICU, but Meghan's enthusiasm or compassion did not change at all, despite all the adversities. Moreover, the family of this dying teenager didn't speak English, so Meghan had a hard time comforting the mom and the maternal grandma, who were continuously crying in the room. Meghan was trying her level best to calm them down with sign language as best she could. One of the family members requested a letter stating that the patient was critical and that they might not survive more than a few hours/days. The letter was intended to help the patient's extended family members to come to the US for the patient's funeral. It was also requested that the letter be on Wesley letterhead and be notarized to add more authenticity and increase the chance that the family members would be able to visit.
As it was the weekend, I knew no one who could notarize that letter, but the family knew every hour was precious and were hoping to get the letter that night. Meghan, without even hesitating, called her mom who happened to be an authorized notary provider. Meghan's mom came within half an hour and we had a notarized, signed letter on Wesley letterhead. In the midst of all adversities, Meghan showed the example of epic empathy and patient-centric righteous behavior. If it wasn't for Meghan and her mom that night, the family's visitation would have been questionable.
