Meghan Litchfield, RN

Meghan was the bedside nurse during an organ donation case. The patient did not end up expiring within the appropriate time frame for Organ Donation. Still, Meghan continued to stay at the patient’s bedside well past the end of her shift into the early morning hours when the patient finally expired. This patient had no family at the bedside. When I saw Meghan next, I thanked her for staying past her shift time to help with the potential Organ Donation case and be with the patient. When I thanked her, she told me she would never want anyone to pass away alone. She was extremely selfless with her time and her care for this patient. Meghan exemplifies what it means to be a nurse and is an advocate for her patients and their dignity in death. Meghan is more than deserving of The DAISY award.
