My daughter was brought into the ER via ambulance screaming in pain and vomiting. She was having an ischemic bowel. From the minute she arrived Meghan not only provided A-plus medical treatment to R, she kindly, empathically, and professionally kept myself and my husband informed and answered any questions we had. She never once seemed bothered, irritated, or off-put at our concerns. She valued our input and her input as a member of her health care team. Emergency decisions were having to be made and we were very overwhelmed. Meghan recognized my emotional state and asked me if there was anything she could do or get me in order to help me feel less overwhelmed and focus on making these decisions.

Upon reflection, I am absolutely in awe of her nursing, compassion, and human understanding. They were a team, and each worked together to get my daughter the emergency intervention she needed. Caring nurses are hard to come by post-COVID. I’ve realized just how valuable these qualities are in nurses and to not take the time to mention this would be a travesty. Our paths may never cross again but for that few hours we made contact with Meghan, she will have a special place in our heart forever.
