Meghan truly represents what it means to provide patient and family-centered care.
My husband was admitted to the hospital with COVID on a Friday. He began to have significantly increased oxygen needs and was transferred to CPCU early the following morning. Meghan was his nurse and I'm so grateful.
As a nurse myself, and not being able to visit because of his COVID status, she knew that I needed transparency and some explanation for the treatment that he was requiring since this was not my area of expertise. Meghan was also an amazing advocate!
On Saturday, I received a phone call from Meghan that the pulmonologist was discussing the possibility of having to intubate. Meghan told me that he was refusing this and she knew that he didn't really understand what it meant. She was concerned because he is young and has a family. She asked me to call him to help him with this decision. Not only did Meghan provide advocacy for him, but she also provided a listening ear and empathy for me. He and I always felt confident and at ease when Meghan was his nurse. She always communicated the plan of care and called with updates when she said she would. Meghan truly represents what it means to provide patient and family-centered care. She is a professional, compassionate, and competent nurse and I am thankful that she is a part of our UCHealth family!
