She poured her soul into her career, and she demonstrated so many ideal qualities in the profession of nursing. She will be greatly missed, and forever remembered.
Meghann passed away unexpectedly. She was a phenomenal nursing student and graduated in December 2021. We had not yet had the DAISY Award in place at our institution. We have awarded the family this award in her honor. Please see attached faculty nominations:

“Meghann was an all-around standout student, who had a passion for learning and the nursing field. Nursing school is not an easy task, but she always had a smile and was able to help her peers laugh, relax, and find fun throughout the rigorous program. She supported her peers with laughter, love, and a friendship that was undeniable”.

“When I think about Meghann as a student, I remember her dedication and excitement for the program. One of my fondest memories was well I was working in the skills lab. She was always waiting by the door for me to open the lab and was always ready to practice.  She continuously offered to help other students with anything they needed and always found ways to use humor to help get through a difficult program!  She was attentive, motivated, and eager to finish so she could care for others.  She was thrilled about her new position at Children's and we were all very proud and impressed with her. The hard work paid off for Meghann. I'm very grateful that I had the opportunity to work with her”.

“Meghann was a beautiful spirit who added positive energy to the classroom. She was a wonderful role model- filled with enthusiasm and dedication to her education and compassion for those she cared for. I am grateful to have been a small part of her journey”.

“What I remember most about Meghann is that she was always up for a challenge. She wanted to try and learn as much as possible at all times and in all situations. She always was prepared and gave everything she did her best effort. She developed confidence as her nursing practice grew, and it gave her patients she cared for the belief and rapport needed in vulnerable situations. Meghann faced challenges with such grace and tenacity- everyone can learn something from her approach. She poured her soul into her career, and she demonstrated so many ideal qualities in the profession of nursing. She will be greatly missed, and forever remembered”.

“The aspect of Meghann I remember most was her passion for caring for people. She was able to walk into any room, classroom, or patient room, and make those around her feel comfortable, respected, and cared for. I was able to see her do this from infants to centenarians, and to every age group in between. She truly used herself as a gift and that gift was taken away from the world too soon”.

“Meghann will always be remembered for the positivity and joy she brought to every situation.  Meghann’s passion for learning and being a caring nurse was palpable.  She was truly excited to be in clinical and class every day and took it upon herself to always be the best version of herself.  Her attitude and passion for nursing spread through her peers, instructors, and anyone she worked with.  She was the kind of nurse I would want to take care of my own children.  She will be dearly missed and never forgotten”.

“Meghann was always meant to be a nurse and after many years of contemplation, she decided to switch careers and join the nursing program. She was an exceptional nursing student, diligent with all her work, and exceeded beyond measures in the nursing program. She was intellectually curious and always up for a challenge.  Meghann was an authentic person who was always true to herself and carried this forward into her nursing career. Meghann had a unique ability to connect with younger people, especially with young kids.  Her confident, quick-witted, caring spirit along with her love of learning led her to the perfect role, as a Registered Nurse at Children’s Hospital in the pediatric cardiac intensive care unit. I am thankful I was able to have Meghann as my student but more importantly, as my friend”.

“Meghann embodied the true spirit of what it means to be a nurse, learner, and team member.  She worked tirelessly to identify her areas of strengths and weaknesses. Meghann was willing to share her strengths not only with her peers but also with the West Bend nursing community.  She could frequently be found assisting other students and was often an informal leader in our Student Nurses Association.  During times when Meghann felt tired and weak, she would reach out to her peers for support, together they would work to solve problems, and the strength of them as a team propelled them past any obstacles put in their way.  Meghann was very proud of her achievements in the nursing profession, but she was incredibly proud of her role as a mother.  She and I would often talk about her family and how at the end of the day, they made it possible for her to become a nurse.  Meghann thank you for touching our lives, all of us are better because you allowed us to be part of your journey”.
