A very special thanks to my personal hero, Meghen.
A very special thanks to my personal hero, Meghen. Mine should have been a much more stressful stay than it turned out to be, but for Meghen. Always attentive and generous with her willing smile and ready to anticipate and fulfill needs- even those I'd not realized were needed. She, however, went far above and beyond.
I was rushed to the ER by my doctor due to dangerously low platelets. It was while waiting in the ER that I learned of the looming Hurricane Helene, which was to hit my home area just 48 hours later. I live alone, and the three close members of my family all recently passed, and my neighbor is out of state on vacation. There I sat, in the ER, not yet understanding that my condition would require admission to the Hospital. I needed to get home ASAP to put away all potential projectiles and the regular hurricane prep, which was not to be. Well beyond the wonderful nursing care that Meghen consistently dispensed with her generous and infectious smile, she took care to swing by my home, check its status, secure such items that the wind had displaced, and took various pictures and called me to set my mind at ease. She then went to Walmart and purchased dental floss I badly needed at her own expense, her time, gas for her suburban and refusing the lousy $10 I tried to compensate her with. Claiming an "Ethical Concern," which I don't see as applicable. My only complaint is that there is only one Meghen.
