We've all heard the saying, "She wears her heart on her sleeve". Recently, our family witnessed firsthand what this really means.
When the doctor told us our brother should be put into palliative care, our hearts were broken. This is not the news you want to hear about your loved one. From the first time we met her, Nooshi was so kind to us. As soon as she walked into the room, she made sure we all had a chair (sometimes, 6 of us at once!). Nooshi always offered each of us an ice water every time we visited my brother. What touched us the most was the sweet tone of her voice. It conveyed an understanding of how it must feel to be in our position. When Nooshi tended to my brother's needs, she gently explained what she was doing to my brother and explained to us as well. She never left the room without asking, "is there anything else I can do for you or for your brother?" She recognized our family's need for privacy with our loved one during such a difficult time. This meant more to us than words can express. If we had a question for the doctor, she made contact with him before we left. We never had to ask twice. We felt extremely blessed to have such a sincerely compassionate nurse during the last days of our brother's life. We feel Beaumont Botsford is very lucky to have Nooshi Nelson on their staff.
