I have been staying at the hospital around the clock with my father while he endured shoulder replacement and a broken arm after another fall. He is 93, but he is strong and still mentally cognizant. His brain never stops. Meilyn Zarate was dad's daytime nurse. All four nurses were outstanding, but we bonded with Meilyn due to her extreme attentions and kind ways plus the way she made Dad feel special. She always addressed Dad as "my love" and it was genuine. On one account I had to leave the room to get lunch. Dad was in the chair to keep him upright.
I informed Meilyn on the way to the café that he was in the chair. She said it was fine to leave him, but she would put an alarm on him in case he tried to get up. I knew he couldn't get up without assistance but felt it was a good idea. Sure enough, when I got back, Meilyn and a crew of 3 were getting dad settled in the chair. Shockingly to me, he tried to get out of the chair! The alarm alerted Meilyn and she was able to avert a disaster! I wish I could nominate every single staff member we encountered from food service to CP to RN, PT to PA's, surgeons and of course Administration. Thank you all, our entire family and especially Dad appreciate your hard work and dedication. I don't know how you do this every day. God Bless you all.
Nothing was ever a problem and anytime we asked for any help she gladly and enthusiastically helped Dad. Also, very motivational and encouraging.
