Her clinical expertise is matched only by her empathy and devotion to each patient’s well-being.
Since joining US Renal Care in 2022, Mei has exemplified what it means to be a nurse leader and an advocate for equitable healthcare. Her clinical expertise is matched only by her empathy and devotion to each patient’s well-being. For example, Mei recently supported a patient experiencing severe anxiety about their first dialysis treatment. Mei calmly and thoroughly explained each step of the process, continually reassured the patient, and provided meticulous monitoring throughout the session. What truly stood out was her decision to visit the patient’s home for two weeks following the initial treatment—a gesture that not only provided continued support but also reinforced trust and stability during a vulnerable transition.
Beyond her exceptional bedside care, Mei has been instrumental in launching and expanding the Home Dialysis Program at our North Flushing and Forest Hills clinics. This initiative has revolutionized access to high-quality renal care for our patients by allowing them to receive treatment in the comfort of their homes. Mei’s vision and leadership were critical in making this program a success, particularly for patients who have historically faced barriers to care.
Perhaps most notably, Mei has made a profound impact on the Chinese-speaking population in our Flushing community. Through culturally competent care and fluent communication, she has empowered patients who once struggled to understand their treatment options. Thanks to Mei’s advocacy and education, many now receive care confidently and consistently—an outcome that would not have been possible without her linguistic and cultural sensitivity.
