Melani is a great candidate for this award, as she exemplifies exceptional compassionate care and professionalism, and goes above and beyond for her patients during each shift. Melani has a quiet demeanor but shows her strength with every patient interaction. She provides calm and steady care in the most stressful situations. She listens deeply to her patients and makes them feel safe and respected. Melani reminds me that the true strength in nursing comes softly, but powerfully. During a difficult night, a patient was very anxious. The patient spoke to her very aggressively and disrespectfully; however, Melani maintained the highest level of professionalism. She responded in a calm reassuring manner, deescalated the situation through respectful communication and continued to provide exceptional care I am proud to have Melani as a colleague at the Transitional Care Unit. She is an exceptional nurse and exemplifies the values of nursing.
