Melanie Avalos, RN

Hello, I was being cared for by a nurse named Melanie Avalos on the night shift on the OB floor triage at Methodist Hospital. I came in with irregular early contractions, and I was really scared because I was consistently worried about my child. She was very informative, compassionate, and patient, and her presence felt so authentic. I’m writing this email months later because I am now a nurse, and I still think about how she advocated for me when I was in pain. The doctor wanted to check my cervix, and although it was a painful process, I still wanted the reassurance of where my body was at the time. When Melanie saw how painful it was, she asked me loudly and clearly if I wanted to continue. She didn’t care about anyone else in that room except for me. When I walk into patient rooms, I still think about her. I advocate for my patients the same way she did for me! And I also think we went to the same school! You guys have an amazing nurse on your team!
