December 2025 Honoree
Melanie Blasingim, CRNA
An employee at Hickman Hospital had a medical emergency while at work. They were working in a room when Melanie entered to check in and offer them a break. Melanie observed signs and behavior that led her to believe her colleague was having a medical emergency. With concern for their health, well-being, and patient safety, Melanie took over the case and contacted her supervisor to request that they check on the employee immediately. Where seconds matter, Melanie took quick action to get the employee care and to ensure a seamless transition of care for the patient. The key takeaway from this situation is that if your intuition tells you something is wrong, please escalate it to a leader immediately and embrace teamwork to ensure the best possible outcome.
Thank you, Melanie, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
