February 2020 Honoree
melanie crawford, BSN, RN
I was admitted for A-fib. While A-fib is serious enough, I am also recovering from a recent kidney transplant, also a very serious condition. Initially, the staff only seemed to be concerned about the A-fib and treating that condition, while I was trying to convey the importance of the kidney situation.
Then comes Melanie, and she almost immediately understood my concerns, spent time with me learning about the requirements of certain meds, etc. She immediately put me at ease and demonstrated the confidence I needed. That the care of my new kidney was just as important to her. I know floor nurses are very busy and have many patients, but she made me feel like I was the only patient on A4. Additionally, she is a good listener and thinks on her feet and I believe can adapt to any situation.

Thank you, Melanie, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
