She makes that incredibly important human connection with ease and compassion. She is a natural healer.
Melanie Curran RN is surely an angel from heaven. Not only was Melanie extremely on point in terms of monitoring my husband's very critical condition she was equally qualified to acknowledge the anxiety of the family members present and meet our needs and expectations. Melanie balanced his management of medications and complex monitoring of frightening blood pressure readings and widely fluctuating heart rates without “missing a beat” in terms of keeping us informed and calm.
I am convinced that empathy is Melanie’s middle name. At each intervention and with each question posed she was there with information and action. We never had to ask twice. I have been a volunteer at Lankenau Medical Center for the last 20 years. In my role as a caring clown, I have had many opportunities to observe excellent nursing in many areas of the hospital. Melanie went way beyond what any family or patient would/could expect in terms of care. Melanie not only cares for the patient medically but Melanie cares about the personhood of the patient. She makes that incredibly important human connection with ease and compassion. She is a natural healer.
Being hospitalized over the long Memorial Day weekend can be challenging when some senior medical staff is not available. We rarely felt that missing link with Melanie at our side. When a consult was needed, she made it happen. I never had to make demands; she simply did the right thing... she listened to us. Listening is one of the most important tools for members of the medical profession: Melanie has and uses that tool with expertise. Lankenau Medical Center should be proud to have Melanie on staff. She is the very essence of what makes Lankenau a very special caring destination for those in need of medical attention.
