May 2022 Honoree
Melanie Gagnon, RN, BSN
I was admitted to the Emergency Department with a bowel blockage and knee revision surgery. To say I felt miserable was an accurate statement! Into my room and life came this little blonde RN who took control of the situation and my recovery. It was very apparent from the introduction that this angel was more than competent! For five days this polite, pretty RN cared for my medical needs, comfort, and recovery.
Melanie can seize the moment, work with it, and improve your mindset and needs. Placing a nose tube for less discomfort, IV's in place and taped, dispensing meds with a smile, fluffing pillows, arranging bedding... There was not a missed opportunity on her part to make me comfortable and encouraged. Her dedication to patients surely helps in their healing process. Melanie is a prize of a nurse for her abilities, but primarily her caring heart. For Melanie, nursing is not a job, or a duty, it's her "life calling" and she has raised herself to that call with angel wings. I love that little one and pray she continues to bless each patient in her care.

Thank you, Melanie, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
