After an infant loss, molds were made but not ready to go home with the patient yet. The patient gave consent for Melanie to take them to the patient at home. When dropping off the molds, the patient requested a blood pressure check. Melanie noted increased blood pressure and notified the doctor.
The next day, the patient needed to be readmitted, and Melanie brought her to the hospital. While on the OB unit, Melanie offered to stay and help staff due to an increase in the number of patients on the floor.
During this time, she heard about another patient being transferred to Evansville (about an hour away), and that the husband didn't have a ride. Melanie offered to take him to Evansville so he could be with his wife. She went well above and beyond her regular job duties!
