Professor Melanie Jacobs is honored for her commitment to her students and their success.  Professor Jacobs works tirelessly to introduce students to the foundation of nursing.  She mentors and coaches, students for endless hours to help them be successful and have the strong foundation to begin practicing in the hospital setting. One student stated that Professor Jacobs is the definition of integrity.  She knows what 's right versus what 's wrong.  Her students always go to her when they are not sure what to do because they know she 'll always guide them in the right direction.  She always takes time for the students even when she has multiple other things to do.  Professor Jacobs serves as an LCON leader through her participation on committees and workgroups.  She leads the way to revisions in the teaching of dosage and adoption of a new textbook advocating a method the students will better be able to apply to practice.  She is a great colleague to new and seasoned faculty, providing coaching, mentoring and support.  Professor Jacobs is an extraordinary nursing faculty member.
