She never rushed him. She made my husband feel relaxed and confident that someone was not only listening to him but also hearing him.
I was in the Emergency unit, it was my 3rd visit in a month's time. Hopefully, you can appreciate his level of concern, as he had numerous, extremely serious medical problems caused by situations with past physicians that left us with even more issues than before. Anytime we come to the hospital, there is a high level of anxiety, and he becomes histrionic.

Mel introduced herself to both of us in a very professional and reassuring manner. She listened so patiently to him. I almost couldn’t believe it. No matter the amount of information he provided, she was patient and listened to everything he and I told her. The emergency room was full, she was probably becoming a bit fatigued, but never showed it! She always acknowledged everything we told her…and it was a lot! From the first time he explained his elevated BP until we walked out the door she came across as concerned and professional. She never rushed him. She made my husband feel relaxed and confident that someone was not only listening to him but also hearing him. My husband also wears two hearing aids. Mel made sure that he heard and understood her… her instructions were easy to understand and follow for him.

Because of the positive experience we had yesterday, it will be much easier to get him to come back and receive treatment! This is very encouraging for me. It is not an easy feat because of all his fears and experiences over the past 10 years. I understand and appreciate what a demanding and stressful job nursing can be. I wish every nurse could be as professional as Mel was. It could sure go a long way to improving patient experiences. Thank you so much for allowing me to express my gratitude for this nurse.
