Melanie is an outstanding nurse. I have had the opportunity for her to care for my family more than once, and it has been a blessing. Melanie is kind and caring and compassionate; all the things you would expect in a nurse. In today's world, this is not the norm. I'm a nurse, I would know. So many demands and so little time can make nurses impatient and jaded, where they lose their bedside manner and compassion. Melanie is not one of those nurses. She is extraordinary.
When my aunt was first admitted to the ICU last October, she was admitted with respiratory distress and a new diagnosis of lung cancer. It was devastating to her and the whole family. Melanie was there for my aunt and for the whole family. She answered questions kindly and with so much knowledge. And a lot of the time, she answered the same questions 3 or 4 times without blinking an eye with the same kindness and gentleness. She has an aura of compassion that surrounds her and when one is in a situation like this, nothing makes you feel more secure. Melanie helped her get through her first chemotherapy and cheered her on. You can't put an assessment on the worth that means to a patient and family.
Melanie again took care of my Aunt today. She again went above and beyond. When we arrivedonthe unit she greeted us like we were family. When we went into my aunt's room she had soft music playing for her. Melanie felt that she did not have enough sedation while she was on the ventilator, so she called the physician and got an order for a medicine to add to the sedation and to get hermediportaccessed. She also updated us on her plan of care. Melanie again was so benevolent and considerate.
Melanie is truly an Angel.
