We stayed at Boston Children's Hospital after our youngest son was diagnosed with ATRT. I remember being terrified to leave the ICU after about two weeks of care. Once we got to the 9th floor, we felt welcomed by these particular nursing staff. They all became like our family due to the strict visitation rules during the pandemic. After my son died, these nurses checked in on us and cried with us. Melanie Marcotte-Feinberg was not just his Nurse at Boston Children’s; she also cared for him at home once he went into Hospice. Melanie is the most genuine and caring person we know. We could not have continued working without her help. I always felt safe leaving my son with her because I knew she loved him and was extremely calm in emergent situations.
