There was a code on 3 South- Intermediate Care Unit. Melanie immediately went into the room to start consoling the family. During the code when the family decided to stop, she immediately took to action.
As a Member Of the Team that was involved in this code, I absolutely loved how Melanie made sure to take a pause after the patient passed. She sat on the side of the bed right beside the recently deceased patient and placed her hand on his stomach.
She then said to everyone in the room, "I want to take a moment to tell you all a story about him." She then turned to the patient and told him what she was about to do. From someone that was in the room during this moment, it was such a touching moment for that family and for all the staff in the room. I cannot thank her enough for all that she does for our patients and their families! She is truly amazing!
