Our mom has been hospitalized for 17 days so far and she has had many excellent caregivers. One nurse stands out. Melanie. She was Mom's primary nurse on day one. She took the time to listen to our mom and bonded with her. Melanie understood the struggles of our family with Mom's quick deterioration and empathized with us. When an intervention wasn't working as expected she shared her knowledge with us and would speak to the physician with meticulous reporting. She was a great advocate for Mom. During Melanie's 12-plus hour shift, Mom went from being coherent, to emergency surgery at 5 pm. Mom and our family felt connected to Melanie. We witnessed Melanie praise her co-workers for assisting her. She is a great role model for this organization. She is kind and steadfast to her calling. Heart of compassion . . . Melanie Mitchell
