If not for Nurse Melanie, I don’t know what I would have done!
Melanie was extremely caring and nurturing toward me and our new baby. She always communicated things clearly with us and made me feel secure and supported. It was amazing to have such a caring nurse during delivery and throughout the majority of our recovery on MIU. Melanie was very sweet, helpful, and supportive. I had a C-section and she was my daytime nurse. She would check on me after and made sure I was doing well. Her care and attention helped me during my stay at the hospital. Thank you!

Melanie is such an amazing person! She helped me through the first 2-nights after my C-section. She went above and beyond by encouraging me, giving me tips, and after-care tricks, as well as physically helping me move around. Not once did she bat an eye at a request or question. She gave me the support that I needed so badly during such an emotional time. She truly cares about her patients and most certainly about the babies!

What warmed my heart was when she would say things like “I’m so proud of you!” or “Look at how far you’ve come!” Melanie is an amazing nurse and I would be in her care again! She truly made a positive impact on a very tough and stressful event in my life.

During my C-section, I had begun experiencing neck and shoulder pain. It progressively got worse until it escalated to a 10 on the pain scale. This deep and intense pain interfered with my ability to nurse my baby, hold him, and do simple tasks. During a time when I expected to be recovered from a C-section, my most significant pain was my shoulders. After several spasm episodes and the worst pain of my life, doctors were unable to provide any true relief. X-rays, pain meds, muscle relaxers did very little to relieve this intense pain. I felt hopeless.

Then, Nurse Melanie came along. She had heard about my shoulder problems and offered an alternative means of relief that no one else could have…massage. Nurse Melanie offered a massage a try. It worked! I finally got some relief and was able to focus on breastfeeding, getting out of bed, and recovering. If not for Nurse Melanie, I don’t know what I would have done! She had no obligation to use tools like her massage experience, but she graciously offered them to me. She brought me from a hopeless frantic “10” to a “3!” A 3 is a wonderful gift after my ordeal. Thank you, Nurse Melanie!
