Melanie Stalbird is the Nurse Manager of Morgan 3, our Cardiovascular ICU which has experienced several leadership transitions over the past few years. As a transformational and servant leader, she has engaged the physicians and team and created a new culture in the unit in a very short time.

Recently a team member on her unit wrote to our hospital president and said, "I would like to begin this note by saying Thank You for gifting us with Melanie Stalbird as our manager on Morgan 3. Melanie's positive leadership and guidance are truly a blessing we desperately needed. I cannot remember working with another manager as engaged, enthusiastic, supportive, and as passionate as Melanie since the early years at Morton Plant. She is respected by the leadership team, staff, physicians, ancillary team members, patients, and visitors.

Since the first day she arrived, Melanie had made a tremendous difference. Many times, in our busy days, we seem to only find time to respond to the negatives and we forget to celebrate the positives. DAISY, Melanie's behavior reflects our values of trust, respect, responsibility, and excellence. Melanie is BayCare! I personally wanted to make sure that the administration knew how much of a positive impact Melanie had made in the short time she has been with us on Morgan 3. Mel's positive can-do attitude bolsters the team on all days, but especially on busy surgery days. She has been an excellent partner to the other department managers during COVID, always doing what she can to create space and facilitate throughput. She is an excellent mentor and her dedication to building a strong leadership team on days and night ensures that her philosophy reaches every member of the team and each patient they care for."
