My husband had a subcutaneous implantable cardioverter-defibrillator placed in him on Tuesday by Dr. T and team. When I was allowed back to see him after the procedure, our nurse was Melanie Wright. She is a very competent professional in all regards, but even with those outstanding attributes she also displayed a beautiful and listening heart. She wanted to know about the near-fatal cardiac arrest that he experienced that resulted in the defibrillator being placed.
Melanie was always so considerate to him. Not once did she ever leave the room without asking if there was anything he needed or if he didn't at that time to please let her know. She went so far as to bring us in a tray of snacks to tide us over as he wasn't being released until 7 PM. She and he carried on easy conversations about funny movies and TV shows. She even saw me at one time napping in an uncomfortable position and came in with a pillow and blanket for me. We have never enjoyed the company of a nurse as much as we did with Melanie Wright. She was like a lifelong friend.
