Nurse Melba Ramos is kind, compassionate, cool, and has really good bedside manner. I had an ileostomy procedure done, which was difficult for me, but Nurse Melba helped me cope with it and encouraged me to get stronger and healthier so I'd have a possibility of getting my ileostomy reversed. Nurse Melba really cares and stands up for her patients. Before I got my central line, I'd get a lot of blood draws per day, so one time she told a phlebotomist, if not urgent, to let me rest, and if there were any issues, that they could come to her. That meant a lot to me because Nurse Melba stood up for me without even asking. She'd also put on movies for me to watch so I'd be somewhat entertained and distracted, but she also made sure I watched medical videos so I'd know how to inject my medicine at home. Nurse Melba went over my discharge paperwork in detail and answered all my questions. She also had parting gifts for me, which meant a lot to me because she thought of getting me something for my discharge day. She also had more encouraging words for me that made me cry. So, I asked her if I could give her a hug. She said of course and we hugged goodbye. Good, caring nurses are hard to come by, and I was blessed and thankful for coming across Nurse Melba, who is what all nurses should strive to be.
