A newly diagnosed cancer patient was scheduled to be seen by the Oncologist. Before the appointment, the patient developed complications from a lithotripsy and was taken by ambulance to the ER. In order to alleviate the stress from missing the first oncology appointment and to prevent the patient and family from fearing the future, Melinda spent an hour with the patient and wife in the ER explaining the disease and treatment options.
