Recently, I gave birth to my youngest child at Gordon Hospital. Although my birthing experience was quite traumatic for me, my experience at Gordon Hospital was just the opposite. After my water broke and my mother arrived, I requested medication to take the edge off. Shortly after doing so, my contractions kicked in on overdrive, but because of the medications, I could not tell what was really happening. At that point I asked Melissa, my nurse, to stay with me just in case. Honestly, I was terrified but having Melissa by my side was reassurance that everything would be ok. She talked to me and coached me through two hours of intense active labor. She called the doctor at just the right moment and helped deliver my beautiful baby girl. I could not thank her enough for staying by my side and being there for me when I thought I was losing it. Even her care before and after delivery was above and beyond. She laughed with me and helped make sure that I was cared for in the most genuinely, thoughtful way. I had even joked with her that I trusted her enough to perform my cesarean after her job performance during delivery. It's nurses like Melissa who make Gordon Hospital great. I cannot thank her enough for what she had done for me and my little family.
