Melissa Beneux is a Trauma Services RN. In recognition by a peer, it was expressed that Melissa goes above and beyond in caring for her patients. For example, Melissa was rounding on an admitted trauma patient. The patient mentioned it was his daughter's birthday and that he felt as though he was ruining her special day. Melissa, having met the daughter on a previous shift, sat down to brainstorm with the patient. She helped him order a cake and arranged delivery to his hospital room. Melissa also went down to the hospital gift shop to buy balloons, a stuffed animal, and a card for the patient to give to his daughter. He stated that he had told several other staff members about his daughter's birthday but only Melissa had gone the extra mile to help ensure that he could celebrate with his daughter on her special day.
