Melissa went above and beyond for me while we were admitted to USACW. I was transferred from Labor and Delivery to the 5th floor when I was approved to move, then shortly after, I was again transferred to the 3rd floor due to my type 1 diabetes. Melissa was my nurse and understood my disappointment about being transferred from the newly renovated rooms to the 3rd floor high-risk unit. I was diagnosed with diabetes at 8 years old, have 7 years of experience as an endocrine nurse, and am a pump trainer for the pump that I wear. Although I have type 1 diabetes, my A1c is within normal range and I have excellent control. Melissa was the best example of a patient advocate I have ever had. She went to her nurse manager and collaborated to make my recovery the best experience possible. I am so thankful that I had Melissa as my nurse for two consecutive days. She answered all the questions that I had and ensured that I had everything needed to help with my recovery. She made sure that I felt important and heard and acknowledged all of my concerns. Melissa is truly an asset to the USACW team, and I hope she knows the impact she made on me - not only as a patient, but also as a nurse. Thank you, Melissa, for an amazing experience. You made my husband, my entire family, and me so thankful that we were on the 3rd floor - simply for the reason that we had you as our nurse. We are so thankful.

Thank you, Melissa, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
