Melissa consistently protects the patient while assisting in complicated OR cases. Melissa defended patient safety by insisting on an abdominal x-ray after unusual amount of sponges were used. Melissa was verbally reprimanded by the lead surgeon. However, she was calm, poised and she was right. I commend her for her advocacy and courage.
