Melissa Boyce, RN, BSN

Melissa Boyce is a star nurse who cares deeply for our pediatric patients and often goes above and beyond to ensure their quality care. We had a young patient who required an IV in order to perform a procedure. The family was challenging and required a lot of support, often refusing treatment or simple procedures. Ms. Boyce approached the family with care, explaining to everyone patiently and kindly. We were unable to obtain an IV on the patient after multiple attempts by multiple providers. Without the procedure, the patient's hospitalization would have been significantly prolonged. Ms. Boyce partnered with the family and received their consent to try once more for the IV, which was successful. The patient received their procedure and was able to be discharged that same day. Her ability to work with families, her technical skills, and her professionalism make her a true DAISY Nurse. This is one of many instances where she performed her duties as a nurse with the deepest respect for the profession and made everyone around her better.
