My Dad had open heart surgery. The surgery was scary; it was painful watching my strong dad become so frail. I am a nurse and I told my dad I would spend the night so that I could be sure he was taken care of. Then Melissa came on. She outlined the plan of care and more than that, she really cared. Melissa talked to my dad and helped him understand how he was doing and what to expect next. She was so encouraging and positive, my dad called her his angel. He said nights were the hardest because he couldn't sleep and Melissa would talk to him and help him be prepared to go home. She helped him understand how important cardiac rehab was. I never thought my dad would follow through and go to rehab, but he did it because Melissa helped him see its importance in his recovery.
