April 2025 Honoree
Melissa Corso, BSN, RN
Melissa always goes above for her patients. She never loses her patience and always advocates for her patients and co-workers no matter what. I could say a million wonderful things about her, but I am writing this nomination because of a very personal experience. I brought my 34-year-old husband to Queen City for chest pain. Melissa was the primary nurse on our care team. My husband ended up going into pulseless v-tach cardiac arrest about 30 minutes after our arrival. Melissa did not skip a beat. She came into our room and started CPR. She allowed me to be at the bedside for the entire event and kept me calm. She wasn't nervous. She didn't panic. Because of her quick thinking and calm manner, my husband is alive and recovering. The way she treated me throughout the entire event made a scary situation significantly less traumatic for me. We were very blessed to have her as our nurse that day.
Thank you, Melissa, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
