Melissa independently reviewed 3 years worth of falls data for our unit. She put together a presentation for staff and CPC meeting that targeted specific areas where most of our falls occurred. She provided training to the staff and came up with the idea of affixing a red flag to our fall risk sign for patients that had actually fallen recently with a number in it to identify how many people were needed to safely assist in transfers. This project has helped us to decrease our falls which improves all 3 goals. Melissa has also been an active member of the HCH4 CPC and continues to be the "Falls Champion" on this unit. In addition to her leadership in quality improvement, Melissa is a skilled and compassionate oncology nurse.
