With the unit's high census and staff working extra shifts, Melissa willingly steps up to help. She is night and weekend shift Clinical Nurse, usually serving as a charge nurse. Every time she is in charge, she goes above and beyond her job requirements. She is ensuring that the Acute Stroke Unit has adequate support when they are in need, helping make sure the patients get their MRI's in a timely fashion, ensuring the safety of both the patients and the nurses who require turns, visits to the restroom and other time consuming interventions. Meanwhile, as a charge nurse she is extremely willing to take on a patient should an admit occur. She always helps or solely gives baths to the patients, picks up full linen bags, tries to mobilize management and other support staff, as well as function within her charge nurse duties. Melissa gives selflessly without complaint.

Melissa is the ICU's clinical ladder representative, she holds level four in clinical ladder. She is an amazing person and awesome nurse.
