Missy was very attentive, making sure mom's needs were met as well as my own even encouraging me to grab something to eat while mom was in the Cath Lab.
My mom was admitted to the IPU to have a stent placed. Missy Earnest was her nurse. Missy did a great job communicating with us about delays that were occurring in the lab. During this time, Missy was very attentive, making sure mom's needs were met as well as my own even encouraging me to grab something to eat while mom was in the Cath Lab. She assured me she would contact me with any changes, and this made me comfortable enough to leave for a few minutes.
Once my mom returned to the room, Missy was in the room constantly checking on her and making sure to keep me updated as well. She did a great job explaining everything to me. A short time later, my mom's heart stopped, and a code was called. This is when Missy's nursing skills really came to the forefront. She handled the crisis very calmly and professionally, taking the lead and instructing the other nurses on what to do. Missy saved my mom's life yesterday. How can I ever thank someone for that?
The following day Missy contacted me to see how mom was doing in the ICU. This kind of care goes above and beyond the required 12-hour shift. Missy is a perfect example of what a nurse should be. Professionally trained to do the job, but also filled with compassion. We need many more nurses like Missy. My family and I are so very thankful for Missy's skills and professionalism during this trying time for our family. Thank you, Missy.
