I received a call today from the daughter of a patient that you (Melissa) cared for. This patient was very ill and transitioned to comfort care. She was transferred to 8W at around 0530, at the end of your shift, and passed away shortly after that. The patient's daughter could not say enough about how kind and competent you were. She listed several things that you did for her mother and other family members that made such an impact on the experience of being together during this end of life event. Some of the things you did were: bringing her mom a warm blanket; bringing water for the family members; talking to her mom as if it was your mom, and touching her mom on the shoulder when you spoke to her.
