Mel was nominated for a DAISY Award by a woman whom Mel assisted in childbirth twice. First, when Mel was a student midwife she supported the delivery of the first child then 2 years later Mel as a qualified midwife delivered the second child. The nominator praised Mel for being the most incredible, caring dedicated midwife who even as a student was able to reassure and support her through the labor process. During the birth process - despite starting as a home birth the woman had to be transferred to the hospital and had huge anxieties and fears, however praised Mel for her dedication and support and for going above and beyond in her role to ensure all went well. The nominator, her children, and her husband attended the presentation and again added to her gratitude for Mel and the difference Mel made to her life.
