Melissa Griffin, BSN, CEN

I came into Sentara and checked in for my vascular surgery. Ms. Melissa came out and got me in the waiting room. She was prompt and so nice, greeting me and my sister, who escorted me to the hospital. Melissa took us back to the OR prep area and she was with me the entire time during pre-op and during my time in the OR. She was very professional at her job, but to me, she was overly nice in explaining each and every step of my procedure. She explained everything to me and to my sister. Of course, she asked if she could discuss it with my sister before saying anything. She asked me, and I told her yes. She explained the why’s and the why nots of my procedure and who would be coming into see me. She escorted me to the surgery OR and was by my side for the entire time. I remember one time during the aortogram, the time got a little intense during the procedure. She was right beside me, asking if I was ok. She was such a true blessing to me, as I am sure she is to every one of her patients. I prayed for all things to go well and for each person in the OR room prior to the procedure. God surely sent me an angel that day, and her name is Melissa Griffin.
