Melissa Kanfoush 2, RN, BSN

Melissa cared for the patient with a combination of compassion and medical knowledge that were truly exceptional. Throughout a difficult stay, she was endlessly patient, and always available and supportive. At one point, when discharge seemed to be imminent, Melissa became an advocate and argued against it as a result of her belief that the patient was not medically stable enough to return safely home. As it turned out, a complication had, indeed, developed post-surgery that necessitated a return to acute care. Melissa's keen eye and knowledge helped to prevent what could otherwise have been a highly risky premature discharge. Over a two-month stay covering three separate hospitals, Melissa truly stood out. She's a superstar!
