I am writing to express my profound gratitude to all the staff at Hospital Little Company of Mary especially the nursing team and in particular, Nurse Melissa. My mother was recently under your care, and the kindness and compassion that Nurse Melissa showed to my mother and even to me as her daughter who stayed by her side – moved us deeply. We are truly grateful for the exceptional care your team provided, and I want to highlight how Nurse Melissa went above and beyond to make a difference during a very difficult time for our family.

During my mother’s early-morning admission, Nurse Melissa demonstrated an extraordinary level of attentiveness. She noticed that I had been awake since the previous night caring for my mother. Rather than letting me continue sitting in an uncomfortable chair, she took the initiative to bring a couch into my mother’s room so I could get some much-needed rest. She even brought me a blanket to ensure I stayed warm – all without me ever having to ask. This thoughtful act of kindness made a world of difference, allowing me to rest and be better prepared to support my mother.

Her kindness did not stop there. A few days later, even when Nurse Melissa was not assigned to care for my mother, she still took the time to come by and check on my mother’s condition. She asked how my mother was doing and if there was anything we needed, offering her help despite not being our nurse that day. This gesture, coming from a nurse who had no obligation to check on us, touched us deeply. It showed that her compassion wasn’t just part of a job – it was part of who she is.

It is rare to encounter a healthcare provider with such genuine empathy and concern for others. To be sure, every member of the medical and nursing staff we interacted with was extremely professional, attentive, and kind, and my family and I appreciate each one of them. However, Nurse Melissa’s extraordinary empathy truly stood out to us. The level of care and personal attention she gave us is something I have seldom seen, confirming to me that she truly belongs in this noble and challenging profession.

As a healthcare professional myself, I want to emphasize just how exceptional Nurse Melissa is. I worked as a midwife for 14 years, including five years in Qatar at a hospital that participates in the DAISY Award program. Through these experiences, I have become very familiar with the demands of our profession and the qualities that the DAISY Award recognizes. In my experience, it is not common to find a nurse as compassionate and dedicated as Nurse Melissa, who truly embodies the empathy, dedication, and kindness that the DAISY Award was created to honor. I firmly believe she deserves to be recognized with this distinction.

In closing, I would like to once again thank Nurse Melissa from the bottom of my heart for the care and comfort she provided to my mother and to me. I sincerely hope she continues her wonderful work with the same passion and dedication, and that she achieves all the success she deserves in her career. Finally, please accept my deep gratitude to the entire medical team at Hospital Little Company of Mary as well. Every single person we encountered, doctors, nurses, and support staff, contributed to the excellent care my mother received, and my family and I will always remember the collective kindness and professionalism shown by your team.
