I would like to formally recognize Melissa for her consistent amazing work as a care coordinator. The most recent example is also one that demonstrates her conviction to the care of our patients. A gentleman called in with concern of right leg weakness, stating he couldn't lift his ankle and was dragging his leg. He is elderly, with numerous medical issues and Melissa appropriately referred him to the ED given the focal weakness. The ED evaluated him, noted normal strength, did x-rays of the leg, and sent him home. He called and notified Melissa of the result of the visit, and his symptoms. She contacted the ED, pushed them to reevaluate him given his symptoms, and sent him back (she let me know). Turns out he had a stroke!!! Without her persistence, this would have been a delayed diagnosis at best, something more concerning at worse. It is not easy to stick to your guns and she did, leading to a better outcome for this patient.

Melissa brings so much compassion and dedication to work every day. She is a great example of World Class Care and am so proud to have her on our team.
