July 2026 Honoree
Melissa Marchand, RN
Melissa was an absolute angel to my father and our family. Melissa was constantly tending to my father’s needs making him as comfortable as possible. Taking care of his every need and keeping us informed and educated in the process. All that may sound like just her job; however, it was her caring, empathetic, and sweet nature that was over and above. She was never just “caring” for our father, she was caring and kind to me, my sister, and my son. She offered much needed hugs and had conversations to help keep our minds out of the darkness. This was truly the darkest time in our lives, and she made us smile and laugh when we needed it most. We were so fearful of our father dying alone and she told us that one of her main priorities is keeping her patients as comfortable as possible and trying to be there for them when their loved ones couldn’t. We believed her! She made us feel like family joking we were “sisters from another mister.” She was the light in our dark time.
Thank you, Melissa, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
