We, as well as our brothers T and P, would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional care provided by Melissa on T’s last day of life. In one of the most difficult and emotional moments our family has ever faced, Melissa’s presence, compassion, and professionalism made an extraordinary difference. We are so grateful that Hospice House sent Melissa to T’s home after we spoke to the charge nurse. At the time, we had no idea that T would pass so quickly—or that it would be that very day. Melissa immediately recognized the urgency of the situation, alerted us that we needed to travel from out of state right away, and kept us informed with gentle clarity throughout.
Her calm and constant communication helped us prepare, emotionally and logistically, for what was to come. When T passed, Melissa stayed at the house with P until we were able to arrive, which took several hours. Knowing P would have been alone in his grief with his brother’s body is a thought too difficult to bear, and Melissa’s decision to stay and support him during that time was an act of genuine compassion. She remained in communication with him the entire time, offering not just medical guidance, but emotional reassurance and strength. Melissa’s care during those hours—and her thoughtfulness in every detail— was deeply appreciated by our entire family. Her kindness brought peace in the midst of overwhelming loss, and her actions speak to the highest standards of hospice care. We will always remember and be grateful for what she did for our family.
