Missy was awarded the DAISY Award which celebrates the outstanding compassionate care delivered by nurses every day at Atrium Medical Center. Her co-workers nominated her for this award for the outstanding care she provides to our patients, as well as the compassion she has for her fellow co-workers.
The ICU Unit Council wrote:
Missy would be a great nurse to receive the DAISY Award because she, first and foremost, is a caring and compassionate nurse. She exemplifies relationship-based care and putting patients first in everything she does. She is highly regarded for her strong clinical competencies, approachability, and sincerity by her patients, families, peers, and colleagues. Others often seek her out for direction, guidance, and leadership. She is always a go-to person for any questions, needs, or challenges you may be facing. She can enter a room and help you see the positives and help you navigate the obstacles to make your patient’s day better, and before you know it, your day is better. She is always sharing herself, her knowledge, and positive outlook on nursing and life. She is always wearing a smile that is contagious to her patients and co-workers. She often precepts newer nurses and performs team leader responsibilities smoothly and efficiently. Missy is the type of nurse and person that I strive to be. Please consider recognizing Missy for the DAISY Award. The DAISY Award itself recognizes compassionate care and the nurse receiving it should consistently meet the criteria of special touch, positive attitude, peer development, teamwork, spirit of nursing – all of these positive qualities that Missy exemplifies every day she is taking care of her patients and their families.
