Melissa had a pregnant patient who was in a very high-risk situation at home. Since the patient and baby were okay, the physician wanted to discharge the patient to home. Melissa advocated for this patient and urged the social worker to get involved. Melissa worked hard to get outside help for this patient and they were able to get her into a safe house. Unfortunately, the safe house could not accommodate her for several days, and Melissa worked with the patient to find her a place to go until then. She helped her call her friends and family, until someone could come and pick her up and take her home. Melissa showed genuine concern and kindness for this patient, despite her high-risk situation.
