Let me start by explaining that my wife, T, fell in our backyard and broke her right femur a few inches below her hip. She fainted, which was cause for concern. Prior to surgery, we were in the ER from 4:30 pm until 1:00 am. We were finally placed on the 6th South floor. My wife was in great pain and was given extraordinarily compassionate care. She had to lie with the broken femur until a CAT scan and Stress Echo scan were completed. We understood that this was necessary because the doctors wanted to check her heart before they did any surgery.
We were visited all morning by a number of doctors and other people on the pre-surgery medical staff. From what I was able to understand, it appeared that surgery was going to be at 2:00 pm. It seemed that T might have to lie in bed for another night with the broken femur. T's nurse, Melissa Montgomery, kept making calls and finally took T down for a CAT scan by herself. I felt in my heart that this was a genuine act of caring for my wife. Ms. Montgomery was doing everything she could to get my wife to surgery. After a few setbacks, my wife had her surgery about 4:30. Because of Ms. Montgomery's persistence and compassion T did not have to go through another night with a broken femur. Thank you for the bottom of my heart!
