Losing a very important item can take a toll on someone mentally, especially if there was an emotional attachment to the item. Sometimes when a patient loses something we may take a few minutes out of our busy schedule to help them look for it and let the patient know we will call them if we find it. This was not the case for Melissa.
Melissa went above and beyond and was not willing to accept the fact that the patient lost something that was dear to her heart. She was not going to let the patient leave the building without her item. Melissa took time out of her very busy schedule to help the patient search high and low and re-trace the patient's steps. Even with all of this work they were not able to find the patient's scarf.
Melissa was not happy with that result, so she gave her own personal scarf that she paid for to our patient to keep her warm! Rumor has it that our patient was so happy and could not believe the treatment she received from our ENT nurse, Melissa.
Melissa, you have such a huge heart and it shows every day in the care of our patients. Your act of kindness to our patient may have been minimal to you, but to our patient, you changed her entire day. You are an amazing person!
