Melissa Noskowiak is an outstanding nurse!
I was in the hospital for a hip replacement. What should have been a 2 day stay, turned into a 5 day stint because of the fact that I was allergic to the anesthesia, allergic to the pain meds, and dehydrated.
Anyone in the medical field probably knows that the end result of these things is vomiting and almost passing out due to a drop in my blood pressure. I couldn't even begin physical therapy with any results until the 3rd night. Among other caring nurses, Melissa was there to cheer me on and encourage me through a time that was very dark for me. Even though I am much older than her she was like a "mamma" to me. She was kind, sympathetic, gentle, and reassuring to me. Every time I would make some progress, her face would light up into a big smile and she would literally cheer for me.
I FELT her care. She would often come in and just talk to me. She brought my husband and me cupcakes when she learned that it was going to be our 46th anniversary. The gesture that touched my heart most was that she actually switched days so that she could be on duty on the day that I would be discharged. She said she likes to follow through with her patients there on the day when I came in and also on the day when I went home to give hugs, smiles, and words of encouragement.
Many people have walked in and out of my life, but Melissa has left footprints in my heart. I will be back for more surgery since I have to have my other hip replaced in 6 weeks and then both knees. I look forward to seeing Melissa and her bright, healing smile again.
